3 Tips to Improve Your Invisalign Experience

Published on December 31st, 2018

Compared to metal brackets and bothersome wires, Invisalign is a walk in the park. Our dentist in Chesterfield agrees, but we want to make your experience even better. To do so, we put together our top three tips on how to make your time with Invisalign as comfortable and effective as possible.

Have a File on Hand

If a new set of aligners is hurting your gums and tongue from rubbing, there’s most likely excess plastic causing the sore spots. If you don’t have time to head to your dentist in Chesterfield for a trim, you can try smoothing the plastic yourself with nail clippers or a file. But be careful! Work slowly and carefully to make sure you don’t overdo it.  If you are heavy handed, don’t try this.

Store Them Safely

Avoid an inconvenient Invisalign disaster by treating your aligners with extra care. Store your trays in a case to prevent throwing them away, losing them, or letting them too easily become your dog’s next chew toy. Using a case will also protect them from harmful germs and bacteria.

Set Alarms

It’s hard to remember everything, so why not make it easier for yourself? Many patients prolong their treatment time because they forget to place their aligners back in after they eat. Instead of delaying your results, set a timer whenever you remove your aligners, so you remember to put them back in.
