What to Know About Veneers

If you aren’t happy with your smile, why not do everything in your power to fix it? This is exactly where veneers in Chesterfield come into play. If you have stains, chips or gaps in your teeth that make you embarrassed to smile, consider dental veneers as an option to fix your insecurities and increase your confidence for the rest of your life.

What Are They Made Of?

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) describes veneers as thin pieces of porcelain that re-create the natural look and feel of your teeth. Veneers also provide an extra layer of strength to your teeth that is comparable to your teeth’s natural enamel. Every veneer that we use is custom-made for your mouth, so you can ensure they will look natural when you smile. You will go through a series of in-office procedures to make sure that your veneers are a perfect fit.

Why Are Veneers a Good Choice?

As opposed to dental crowns or braces, veneers are a less-obtrusive way to achieve the smile that you’ve always wanted. They are simply placed and bonded to existing teeth, and they also offer a solution to whitening and brightening your smile as well. You’ll be able to achieve the smile that you want at a much faster rate compared to other methods.

The Process of Placing Veneers

You can expect for the process of getting veneers in Chesterfield to take one to two appointments. Local anesthesia is not typically used during the procedure, but it can be if the patient is sensitive. Dr. Silva will remove a small amount of your natural enamel in order to make room for the veneer. After the impression of your tooth is made, a temporary veneer will be placed. Once the finalized version has been completed, Dr. Silva will remove the temporary veneer and replace it with the permanent veneer. You’ll leave our office with a permanent, shiny smile!

Do Veneers Require Special Care?

You’ll be happy to know that veneers in Chesterfield require no special care. You will be able to brush and floss just as you would your natural teeth and be sure to use a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Your veneers will need to be replaced at some point, but taking good care of them will ensure they last as long as possible.
